What is poetry????? What is poetry?
Is it a heartfelt rhyme,
listened and rehearsed
time after time?
Is it a rapper's theme?
Is it a Black man's dream?
Is it a conman's scheme?
Is it the way it seems?
Maybe it's the beautiful green trees
that nestles the birds and bees.
Is it the flowing rivers?
Is it the roaring seas?
Is it a sister's hope living alone
just trying to cope?
Is it a young child's expectation,
to get an education,
and see his graduation?
Is it my way out?
Sometimes I want to shout
and free my mind
so I write my rhymes
from time to time.
